The coming year will present increased compliance challenges for motor carriers. To meet these challenges, Standard & Best invites you to this year's Safety Issues Update where industry experts will explain the new rules and issues facing the trucking industry and how to stay compliant in 2016.
Since it's beginning in 1999, Standard & Best has hosted an Annual Safety Issues Update at the first of the year where we bring experts to the table to provide updated information and insights on safety issues that have had a major impact on our industry during the past and coming year.
This year's line up includes:
ELD | Will discuss the specifications for an ELD to be compliant according to FMCSA regulations. We will also discuss what to be aware of when using ELDs in roadside inspections.
MEDICAL EXAMS | Beginning Dec. 22, medical examiners will be required to use a revised examination form. You will hear from a DOT Certified Medical Examiner how this will impact driver examinations.
SLEEP APNEA | Learn where a motor carrier's responsibilities begin and end regarding sleep and fatigue disorders from a leading motor carrier defense attorney.
URS | Beginning Dec.12, the first of sweeping changes to the Unified Registration System will take effect. You will learn what you must do to keep your credentials in force as the USDOT continues its transition to full online servicing.
DRIVER COERCION | Beginning Jan. 29, 2016, a new rule prohibits motor carriers, shippers, receivers, or transportation intermediaries from coercing drivers to operate in violation of the FMCSRs. You will learn how some business practices could lead to a charge of coercion.
