Military Freight Open Season Enrollment Closing Soon
The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command enrollment opportunity for new companies to register as a Department of Defense motor carrier closes on Tuesday, February 28.
This opportunity might not reopen for five years or more after that date. Motor carriers who wish to enter this market are strongly urged to begin their application process now.
Carriers are required to be registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and have valid DOT authority for three consecutive years (without a break) prior to the Open Season.
Applicants must notify SDDC of small business status via the Freight Carrier Registration Program during registration. Moving DoD freight requires a significant corporate commitment to support a specialized sales staff to deal with myriad unique shipper requirements.
