The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently completed a safety impact analysis on the Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP). FMCSA evaluated transportation companies that used PSP to screen commercial drivers on at least a monthly basis between 2010 and 2012. The study results were presented at the Transportation Review Board’s annual meeting and the presentation has been posted for public consumption.
During the presentation, FMCSA announced that study findings showed companies that use PSP have, on average, lowered their crash rates by 8% and driver out-of-service rates by 17%.
The FMCSA safety impact analysis demonstrates that PSP is a critical tool to help improve safety on our nation’s highways.
